Values
The following should be seen as a set of guidelines - tools for collaboration - to help us shape a better tomorrow.
Our aim is to create a net positive impact. Acknowledging that every action carries a cost, we are committed to developing products that are not mere variations on existing solutions but bring substantive improvements. Innovation is a driving force for us. Fueled by curiosity and an urge to uncover improvements, whether major or minor, we eschew maintaining the status quo.
Consequently, we insist on fearlessly exploring new methods and ideas and, drawing on your expertise, transcending existing norms.
Recognizing the limitations of legislation as we are navigating an uncertain future, at Divind Slaatto Studio we firmly believe in complementing legal frameworks with robust ethical considerations. We therefore see these guidelines as dynamic instruments that must be subject to continuous scrutiny and adaptation in response to emerging experiences and knowledge.
Emphasizing the primacy of dialogue over mere agreement, we invite you to scrutinize our assertions with critical questions and suggestions. Through this collaborative process, we aim to develop genuine improvements together with you.
Our involvement in each project starts by asking the fundamental question: Why - and what impact will it have?We are wholeheartedly committed to achieving these goals. This is an invitation.
Durability
We strive to create products that minimize energy consumption throughout their entire life cycle, encompassing manufacture, distribution, use, and remanufacturing. Our objective is to design products that are durable and long-lasting, and we aim to promote upgrades and repairs to extend their lifespan. Objects should be crafted to withstand the test of time, not merely follow transient trends. We strive to decelerate the pace of consumption while ensuring a stable income for our manufacturers.

Ethics
Recognizing the unpredictability of the future, we engage in discussions regarding the potential positive and negative impacts our designs may have on manufacturers, users, environments, economies, ecosystems, and cultures. This approach enhances the likelihood that our designs will yield an overall positive impact, regardless of scale, with lasting value. Ethical thinking is not an optional addition to our work; it is the foundation.

Transparency and honesty
We aspire to create honest and transparent design and business models, granting end-users control over their products and data. What you see is what you get—no hidden agendas, no planned obsolescence, no ambiguous “Terms and Conditions,” and no concealed data harvesting.

Circular economy
We prioritize materials with the smallest possible environmental footprint, aiming for a positive impact through products that can be upcycled rather than downcycled, whether in technical or biological loops. Successful recycling requires planning from the earliest design phase and involves viewing design, business development, and infrastructure as interconnected. Wherever feasible, we design for disassembly, always considering tomorrow’s implications as we work today.
